Product Description

The simply designed Casio G-Shock Classic digital watch for men offers shock resistance that's great for your most vigorous sporting activities. The durable rectangular black watch case measures 45mm wide (1.77 inches), and it's matched to a comfortable black resin sports strap. It includes a stopwatch function that can measure events down to 1/100 of a second for the first 60 minutes (and down to 1 second from 60 minutes to 24 hours), and it offers elapsed and split time modes, and 1st-2nd place times. It also has a countdown timer with a 24-hour range. Other timekeeping features include a multi-function alarm, hourly time signal (which can be turned off), and 12/24-hour formats. This timepiece also features an Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2039), ±15-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving.

Very nice strong watch

I find This watch very smart and attractive, and quite comfortable to wear for a g-shock watch. it has obviously the time, alarm, countdown timer, stopwatch and a nice aqua green glow for the backlight, I heard these watches are used by the military and emergency services like police and firemen etc.
Nice simple watch

If you want a simple digital watch, this is perfect. It also looks cool since it has a retro feel to it. I have a few g-shocks and this one is nice because it is not overwhelming
Great watch, annoying backlight

Reviewer: Connor McKay,
Incredibly durable, very easy to use, and all the features you need. My only complaint with this watch is in regards to the backlight, and when it refuses to work. When setting the alarm, the backlight will not come on, even though that button performs no other function in this mode. This means that you cannot set the alarm in the dark, which is very annoying if you are camping or in a shared room and don't want to turn on the lights just to set your alarm. The backlight will also not work when setting the event timer, but instead toggles the "automatic" mode which causes the timer to restart automatically when it reaches zero.

Overall, its a great watch, but this one design flaw means I probably wouldn't purchase another one.
Casio states the battery is a test battery; may not last long!

Is this something new about cheap, short-life batteries being supplied with Casio watches?
I just ordered this watch from Amazon last Wednesday and received it today, 2-23-2010. I set the time and date and looked through the User's Guide. On page E-28 under "Battery Replacement" and "Initial Battery" it states this about the initial battery:
"The battery that comes loaded in your watch when you purchase it is used for function and performance testing at the factory.
This type of test battery may go dead quicker than the normal rated battery life as noted in the User's Guide. Note that you will be charged for replacement of this battery, even if replacement is required within the watch's warranty period."

How long has this been going on? Is this a new statement in newer User's Guides, or has this statement been in the manual for years? Please comment on this. Is the same statement in other Casio watch User's Guides? It is ridiculous of Casio to provide anything other than normal, full-life batteries to their customers. None of their ads say anything about selling watches with short-life batteries. Casio may save a few pennies but its customers lose many dollars and have the considerable bother of an earlier first battery change. This is my 4th Casio watch, and I don't recall seeing this statement before. I'll try to find the User's Guide for my other Casio. On Feb. 26 I am adding that my User's Guide version on the last page is MA0907-C, printed in China.
By Far the Greatest Watch I've Ever Owned

This watch is outstanding!
I've had watches in the past, but none have been like this!
I used to be fearful of banging watches against walls or dropping them. But now, I have a G-Shock, so I don't have to care.
For Jesus' sake! Marines wear these! Navy SEALs too! They are the best of the best and they wear 'em. Shouldn't you?

This Watch
- Low Costing
- Indestructible (I've banged this against walls, concrete, brick, etc. keeps ticking!)
- Fast shipping
- Great display
- Really simple (Clock, Alarm, Stop-watch, Timer)

Only drawback- the 'ADJUST' button for some reason isn't raised out like all the other buttons. Meaning you have to really put your fingernail in there if you want to get it. But 95% of the time, it isn't a problem whatsoever.

If you constantly are breaking watches, this watch is for you! These can last up to 20 years!
