Great watch, great price

I purchased this watch for my son so he would have an inexpensive watch for boy scout outings. He wears it all the time. He loves the built in alarm, the easy-to-use features and the sturdy structure. For the price of this watch, I would recommend it as a great watch to buy a young boy who might want a good watch for outdoor use. Should he lose it, you won't be out much money and it is sturdy enough that you won't have to buy a new watch every month!

This watch has the simple to use and set alarm my 24 year old nephew requested for the watch he needs while attending Law School. Considering his past treatment of watches I knew it needed to be an inexpensive watch since he usually loses them. I was delighted that it looked to be of good quality and had an attractive but understated design. After already thanking me for the watch and wearing it out the house Christmas Eve my nephew has skyped to me that he is getting a lot of use out the watch and is utiliziing the alarms on a regular basis. He offerred that information up out of the clear blue without me asking him so he must be impressed with it. He ordinarily never contacts me! Hopefully he is learning the true value of a thing is not what it costs or how flashy it may be. Just maybe because it is so useful he won't lose this one! Actually there is no reason to take it off since it is water resistant even if it goes into the water. I got another one for my other nephew who I noticed wears it. He is in his last year high school so you know it has to be considered at least sorta cool looking.

Reviewer: R. Mayeaux,
the watch was fine, no problems, but the bracket that holds the band broke so it couldn't be fixed
Not water-resistant at 30 feet, much less 50 meters!

Picked up this watch at the last minute before a sailing/ snorkeling/ scuba trip since my usual Timex Ironman had just died, and the price for the 1440 was only 1/2 to 1/3 that of the Ironman I usually buy. While this watch was only rated water-resistant to 50 meters/ 165 feet (unlike the 100+ meters for the Ironman) I didn't expect it to be an issue since as a recreational diver I never dive that deep.
However, I got what I paid for - the 1440 couldn't even handle a half hour in shallow (< 30 foot) water on my first dive - and what's even worse, it was a dive that ended up being more snorkeling than diving; by the time I was back on the boat the face was so badly fogged that it was impossible to read the watch, and it hasn't cleared to any significant degree in the days since.
The watch is getting returned.
