Perfect for home theater

This is a fantastic home theater projector. We have had it for 2 years and use it for movies, directv and video gaming. We have a dedicated room with 1 large window which has a shade that pulls down. Opposite the window, we have a 3/4 wall with openings (shades available) in order to watch while eating or playing billiards. The picture is amazing and even with the 3/4 wall open and recessed lighting on in the adjoining room the picture is great. The unit is very, very quiet. I have never noticed it. It does produce heat, so venting is important. We have it on a peerless arm mounted on the back wall over our heads which works perfectly. We get the occasional reminder to clean the filter and do so. I have no regrets whatsoever and we honestly choose NOT to see some movies in theaters because it looks better at home! Can't wait to see Avatar at home!
Awesome Picture

I purchased this unit and instantly it blew me away!!! You can place this projector 10' feet away from a screen or wall and get 90" minimum viewing. It goes up to 300" and doesnt lose anything. The Sharp picture details and lively colors are just some of the added bonuses. Wow a movie Theatre in your own home, or in your backyard at night with friends over. Hook it up to your favorite game system...any way you use it you will be happy with this one. Way worth the price compared to higher end models. This unit screams high end...believe me you wont be dissapointed!!!
Best economy projector you can buy

I have owned this for 1 year. I read a negative review and thought I would share my thoughts. The projector is really cool. Nothing beats an 8 foot movie screen 10 feet from your face and the HD image this thing pumps out is every bit as good as a TV, but just not as bright, as you should expect.
This PJ is incredibly quiet for the image it projects. In order to find something that runs more silent you have spend at least 3 times as much money. The size is a bit larger on this unit than those higher end models probably due to that reason. I keep this unit on a shelf about 3 feet behind me and 6 feet above my chair. I usually run it in ultra low lamp mode to get better lamp life and to keep it quite. I can hear the fan after about an hour if I run it on the highest setting, with my audio on medium levels, but I just pump up the audio to max comfort level to compensate. On low lamp I can not hear the fan at all. I believe if I had a better set up in a larger room with it mounted to the cieling I probably would not hear the fan on high lamp mode. Low lamp mode is adequate at night, but it's fun to pump up the light to make the images pop and is necessary during the day if any light gets in the room.
Couple things. I watch a lot of tv and play video games for hours on end. I run the lamp for many hours straight and it's still good. But a cost of owning a PJ is replacing the lamp. I have not had to get one yet, but these lamps only go for about 250. I have over 1000 hrs and 1 year on this lamp.
You are supposed to clean the filter every 10 to 15 hrs. I hardley ever do it (like 3 times in the last year) and it always looks ultra clean. I do have a closed shelve type of thing with plenty of vent room on the side for the heat to disapate so maybe that helps. If it is mounted to a ceiling that may attract more circulating dust.
You have to have a dark dedicated room for any projector. any ambient light kills the image. Wife approval factor will be low if you try and put this in the main living room and close all the curtains everyday. The novelty of a huge screen is great, but everytime I see a big LCD in the store the image is SOOO much brighter. I have a 40 LCD in my workout room. These are great for movies, tv and games, but you should have a dedicated room or be a bachelor like me. Otherwise a big LCD tv is the way to go.
When it works, it's amazing. Giant paper weight after 8 hours of use.

I just bought a z2000 and it stopped working on the third day. Looks like several folks on the AVS forum have had the same exact problem. Basically, the unit powers off, the door shuts 90% of the way, and the warning light of death comes on. I have plugged out the unit to no avail and I will have to deal with Sanyo support on Monday. I JUST got this thing. Not good. I will post let you know how Sanyo handles this situation. Perhaps they can take a negative situation and make it into a positive strength with thier service and responsiveness. Other from that, this PJ is superb.
