Attach and Go

I took the drive out of the box, attached the USB cable, and plugged in the AC cord. Windows XP recognized the drive, and I immediately began copying files and folders to the drive. No noise, no flash, just performance. My only problem is that when I leave it plugged in, when I turn on the computer, startup stalls. I have to unplug the drive for the computer to boot.
The Right Price for Great Performance!

This is a great plug and play external hard drive. Simply remove it from the box and connect it to a USB port on your computer, connect the AC wall power and GO! Other external drives are cluttered with so-called user friendly back up software. This WD Elements drive is pure useable space. It is great. No clutter. Simple. Plug, Go, get mirror for the blinking light

Reviewer: Collin Riley,
This is the most usable drive we've ever owned, and we currently have one extra internal hard drive and four external drives for our three computers. You simply plug in the power, attach the USB and use the drive. One problem for an intermediate user like me is the lack of a blinking light on the front so I know when the drive is actually doing something (maybe it's a self-confidence thing); the drive is so quiet you can't hear it read or write! Anyway, I located an old bicycle mirror in the shop, mounted it on a dollop of clay, and sat it behind the drive so I could enjoy the blinking and winking that keeps me so happy. This is a great buy, and should keep most users well stocked with storage--at least until next year!
Can't beat it!

Only had 1 day but it is totally quiet and I downloaded 100gb and it was only lukewarm, same download speed as my Cavalry 7,200 RPM drive. 1.5tb WD Green. Low price. What more could you want? Amazon was great also. Fast ship but they only had packing on 1 side (When will they ever learn?) It was detected instantly on my Windows 7 64 bit. There is a light in the back so I attached a little mirror to the wall so I could see it. Quiet and cool!
Plain and Simple.

I received the 1 TB model yesterday. Plugged her in, checked her out, and did a backup of my Sony Vaio laptop's drive.
Simple and intuitive. A very quiet unit.
What amazed me is that the unit is sealed. Yet, after a complete backup, it was no more than slightly warm.
Time will tell how reliable it is....but for now, I'm totally satisfied with my WD.
