PANASONIC CG885 CANISTER VACUUM CLEANER

AWESOME! I have a Toy American Eskimo (long white hair) and a RED area rug in my living room. My upright would not get up the hair. I used masking tape to clean the rug! I did lots of research on vacuums and found the canisters were the most powerful. It was confusing because some had "dog hair attachments, etc.) After reading about this vacuum, I decided it was what I wanted. The day I received this vacuum, I put it together (simple) and went straight to the red rug. I started vacuuming and it came right up - clean as a whistle (whatever that means). After that I realized I had the setting on "med pile"...WOW. I like that the off control, switch from Carpet to Floor is on the handle. The control to adjust just from "xlow", Low, "Med" ,and "high" pile carpet is clearly marked and easy to adjust on with your foot on the sweeper part. It DOES pull..it will take off with you if you do not have the height adjustment right! The hose is long enough and the cord is xtra long - and automatically rewinds with a touch of the button. Sweeper hooks on back of the canister for convenient storage. The bag could be larger, I read that it actually held as much as most - and because of the design would continue picking up effectively even when it "looked" full. Haven't had to test that yet. I LOVE IT !! I took my old upright to a charity store.

Exceptional vacuum cleaner!

I got this a few days ago. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it or not because honestly, I wish it was a different color. Anyway, the performance of it has won me over big time. Before I got this one, I was using 2 vacuums to do my floors and furniture. Now I can do my furniture, hardwood floors, bathroom floors, furniture AND get under the bed! It does a great job and I even gave it what I call the "flour test". I wasn't sure if it had enough suction so I sprinkled about a teaspoon of flour on a low pile carpet we have in our kitchen, and it got it in one swipe without the motor head turned on. Then I used it on my furniture and wondered if it was getting the cat hair. When I was done, I used one of those sticky lint removers and I didn't get any fur! I wasn't sure I would like pulling a cansiter around to do the whole house, but it is worth it when you see all it does and does it quietly. Totally satisfied and would buy it again.
I really like my Panasonic MC-CG855

I've had the Panasonic MC-CG855 canister vacuum for a couple of months now and really like it. I have to admit that I'm using the floor brush and turbo brush from my previous vacuum (a Bissell bagless Revolution that I hated), but with those additions the Panasonic is pretty close to being perfect. It's light, reasonably quiet, has good suction, and seems well-made. The bag is a little small, but my dog's long hair is really compressed into it. I don't feel like it will be all that expensive for bags. I love the switch on the handle - right where it should be. I was a bit worried that because it is almost all plastic that it would attract dust (like the Bissell) but that hasn't happened too much and not at all with the hose. As some of the reviews mention, it doesn't track all that well, but the tradeoff of being able to scoot it any direction is worth it. I did tip mine over once, but that hasn't been an issue. Being able to turn off the floor brush as you move from throw rug to hardwood floors is handy, although I put on the floor brush to do large areas. It needs a turbo brush for upholstery (or better yet Panasonic should make an electric one), but with those 2 additions it cleans everything quite well. You can unhook the floor attachment without bending over. Everything works as it should and there isn't anything that looks like it will break anytime soon. I love the cord retraction button - it makes it much less of a hassle to get it out and do something quick.

The Panasonic probably isn't as nice as some of the thousand dollar vacuums, but it does a great job - in fact I'm not sure that it could be significantly better. My house is cleaner and I don't dread getting out the vacuum cleaner anymore.
good looking buy clumsy

I pondered a new vacuum for a long time. I settled on this one for the looks and reviews. It is beautifully built, metal tubes, solid plastic body, long cord, good looking! My house is mostly hardwood and the cleaning head is better suited to carpet. When I remove the head, the suction is strong, but when the head is attached with out the beater bar on (bare floor mode), I think my old up right was better. I have a small house with lots of corners and I'm always unsticking the main unit from not rounding a corner, too much bending for me.guess I'll keep it and learn to manage.

This vacuum is light and easy to use. The best feature is the ability to go from hardwood floors to carpet by sliding a button. It cleans well. The two negatives are 1) the "upholstery brush" is too small to do any good, and 2) the bags fill up quickly as they are small. This does not prevent me from recommending this vacuum cleaner however.
